Preparing for a career in a health profession

Preparation for Health Professions

The human physiology major requirements emphasize a depth and breadth in the biological and physical sciences that are inclusive of many standard requirements for admission to medical, dental, physical therapy, nursing, and other allied-health science schools. Additional courses, beyond the major requirements, are often required for many of these programs.

Students seeking a career in medicine, dentistry, physical therapy, nursing, etc., should work closely with advisors from the Health Professions Program to plan their program of study to meet the specific admission requirements of the postgraduate schools in which they are interested. With the specific requirements in mind for different postgraduate programs, students should also consult the HPHY advisors on how to most efficiently and effectively navigate the HPHY curriculum.
