Jan Broekhoff Graduate Scholarship

Jan BroekhoffFounded in 1997 to honor the lifetime of teaching and research by Professor Jan Broekhoff, friends and former students established a scholarship through the Department of Human Physiology.

Professor Jan Broekhoff (1935-1991), was the former Head of the Department of Physical Education and Human Movement Studies (now Human Physiology) and last Dean of the former College of Human Development and Performance.

For consideration the application must:

  • Be pursuing a graduate degree in Human Physiology
  • Have demonstrated high academic standards as evidenced by documentation provided in the application process
  • Have demonstrated knowledge of and appreciation for the breadth of the content in the discipline of physiology or related fields
  • Have a desire to serve the profession and an intention to pursue a career in exercise science or allied health/medical science
  • Have demonstrated good citizenship and ethics

Applicants should submit the following:

  1. Copy of transcript of graduate work
  2. Professional resumé
  3. Letter describing scope and progress in graduate studies. The letter should also address:
    • Interests and activities, internal or external, to the university environment (internships, teaching, and services, etc.) related to the field of study or of a interdisciplinary or community service related nature
    • Proposed use of scholarship
    • Career objectives Students receiving the scholarship may apply for renewal of the scholarship in subsequent years
